TRNDS release hard-hitting second single

TRNDS (pronounced Trends) are a female fronted New Wave/ Romantic inspired band from Glasgow.

Band members Becca Brody (vocals), Thom Glasgow (guitar, bass, keys) and Neil Jamieson (drums, guitar, vocals) are excited to announce that their second single “Cannonball” is now on release following their debut “Only You”.

Cannonball preview and radio quality download link “Cannonball” tells the story of someone reaching their lowest point at the end of an abusive relationship. Hinting at mistrust, mental and even physical abuse. As the song progresses it shows the rebuilding of strength and as it reaches its crescendo the realisation of self-worth, healing and a better future.

The band say their Influences range from The Cure, Eurythmics, Ultravox, Florence and The Machine, Blondie, Travis, Panic at The Disco t, Kate Bush, Foxes Fleetwood Mac, The Smiths and Garbage.

Thom and Becca initially met after she reached out to him to help produce and co-write some songs for an EP in 2019. Although this never came to fruition due to other commitments.

However, in early 2020 Thom and Neil left the band they were in, having become disillusioned with the creative process.

Both wanted to create something new, fresh and exciting as well as challenge themselves as writers and musicians. TRNDS almost never happened and only came to be as a result of Thom sending Neil a demo of Becca singing a cover of Foxes in error, instead of the track they had been working on together.

He was amazed by her voice and both agreed they should contact her to see if she would be interested in working with them.

Although hesitant at first, the three musicians quickly bonded, each bringing a unique skillset and despite lockdown spent the next few months writing and recording demos online before teaming up with James Mackenzie to record at Soundshape Studios.
