Milyssa Rose releases track highlighting suicide prevention

Milyssa Rose

Milyssa Rose has announced her new single “Storm" raising awareness around suicide prevention.

Storm is a song for anyone going through any type of hardship. Sometimes it can feel like you won't make it, and that it’ll never end.

The effect on your mental health can be dangerous, but being able to talk to someone about those issues is such a necessary, massive step.

We all have storms, but you can become stronger and more resilient over time.

Here Rose writes for ABLE2UK highlighting why mental health awareness is so important to her.

"Storm was the most challenging song to write and record. Of course, it is extremely personal and raw. I was inspired to pen this because of Demi Lovato's "Anyone."  When Demi came out about her addictions and battles mentally, I wanted to do the same. If she can stand in front of millions, then so can I. It was empowering.

I feel people who view anyone putting themselves out there for the world to see on a small or large scale can not possibly have anything to be depressed, anxious, or sad about. As artists, we can be filled with self-doubt and insecurity, but pair that with mental health, and you have quite an uphill battle.

I wanted to share my feelings in a song people could relate to. We all have traumatic events, obstacles, and just downright awful times, but no matter what, they pass. However long they take to get through, we get through them.

I have always dealt with depression and anxiety all my life. I kept it hidden for a long time. I was embarrassed in my adulthood that I sought help. It is nothing to be ashamed of. I am pretty proud of myself and what I have accomplished. I didn't let my state hold me back.

I want the listeners to understand that you can overcome and conquer anything.

We all have storms, and they pass. It can't rain all the time and it won't.

I hope that through my art I can inspire and help educate people, as good mental health is so important. We all go through hard times, and it’s so crucial to remember that the other side is brighter again."
