Tonight, Tuesday April 12, sees the start of the third and final season of Channel 4’s critical acclaimed comedy Derry Girls, but since the show started actress Saoirse-Monica Jackson has been struggling with a mental health condition.

Away from the cameras Jackson has been living with imposter syndrome after being thrust into the limelight.

Before the show first hit our screens in 2018 she was making ends meet by selling HelloFresh recipe boxes around London after her acting career stalled for nine months.

In a recent interview with The Guardian Jackson admitted she found it difficult to cope with the attention the show attracted across the world.

Jackson said: “I know everybody feels this – especially girls – but I’m scared that I’m going to get found out, they’re going to say that they’ve changed their mind.

“I’m definitely still finding my way as an actor and as a young woman.”

Derry Girls in on Channel 4, Tuesdays at 9.15pm and available afterwards on All 4.
