John Bishop fronts a new ITV documentary this week where the comedian and his son Joe set off on their travels to find out more about people living with hearing loss across the country.

Joe lost most of his hearing when he was 15, twelve years have passed and now, along with his dad, he’s about to explore the Deaf community - but he has the easy job!

John has set himself the challenge of learning British Sign Language (BSL) so he can share funny stories on stage for a stand-up comedy show for the Deaf community.

In Joe & John Bishop: Life After Deaf the two meet people with hearing loss who share their personal stories and how they are perceived by others.

John said:  “Before we started this journey, we could never have imagined what an impact it would have on us as a family. Joe and I are so grateful to the members of the Deaf community who we’ve met this year, their generosity has changed our lives.”

TV production company, South Shore, CEO Andrew Mackenzie said: “This is an extraordinary and brave film for the Bishop family to make. They’ve opened up an incredibly personal and moving story as they take their first steps into the Deaf community."

John & Joe Bishop: Life After Deaf is on ITV Thursday, 22 September at 9pm, available afterwards on the ITV Hub.
