TV star, actress and musician Willow Smith and her boyfriend Tyler Cole will be trapping themselves in a box for 24 hours today to raise awareness around mental health and anxiety.

The performance art titled ‘The Anxiety’ will be on display at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles from 9pm local time.

Smith and Cole will be separated by a glass pane as the write messages to each other on the canvas walls and paint pictures but stay silent whilst passer-by’s watch the couple go through eight emotional stages of anxiety.

As well as awareness the stunt is also a perfect opportunity to plug the duo’s new album ‘The Anxiety’, released tomorrow, March 13.

Speaking about being locked up in a box Smith told LA Times: “We might grunt or scream – it’s going to be very primal.

“We were like, ‘Wouldn’t it be so interesting if we could personify this experience? Starting from being scared and feeling alone and moving to a place of acceptance and joy?’

“We understand this is a very sensitive subject.

Smith added: “And we don’t want to be like, ‘Our experience is the experience.’ This is just us expressing our personal experience with this.”

Willow Smith made her film debut in I Am Legend with her father, Will, in 2007.
