Dating sites featured in The Undateables
As Channel 4’s ‘The Undateables’ dumps us tonight after our three week after our three week relationship in front of the box on a Tuesday night we look into a handful of dating services which have featured across the series.
Stars in the Sky
Stars in the Sky was formed in 2005. The dating service caters for those with learning difficulties and was founded by Lolita Jones and Pauline Geipel. The Undateables isn’t the first time the dating agency has had a fling with Channel 4, back in 2005 Stars in the Sky was the central focus of a documentary entitled ‘Truly, Madly, Deeply’. The organisation helps those living in the London area and also has a separate group called Skittles for gay, bisexual and transgender customers. Their inital goal is to grow into a national organisation.

It’s brands itself as the ‘biggest personal introductions agency in the UK’ and as the Channel 4 series showed, they do seem to do reasonably well pairing up lonely hearts. Unlike most online dating your quest to find that special somebody doesn’t require you to complete a profile on the web, the company arranges a representative to either meet you face to face (for platinum customers) or call you (available for Associate members) and help you write a two-page profile along with a couple of photos. Everybody who signs up to Search Mate will have the ID checked to ensure they are genuine people looking for love. The joining fee is pretty steep though at a platinum price of £2,495 and an Associate price of £795.
