Business donates xmas gifts to local charity

A business centre based in Peterborough has really grabbed the festive season by its horns by donating over 100 presents to a local children’s charity in time for Christmas.

Kind-hearted folk at The Institute of Export and International Trade clubbed together to support Little Miracles, which provides care for families of children with disabilities and life-limiting health conditions.

Staff spent their lunch breaks wrapping up presents donated by workers based in the London, Northern Ireland and Belgium offices.

The company matched every present donated, so the staff were more busy than Santa’s elves on Christmas Eve!

When all the gifts were wrapped workers left their desks and headed down to Little Miracles’ HQ, in Ravensthorpe, on Friday, 8 December, to spread some festive cheer.

"We wanted to do something good for the local community,” Kelly Rawles, chief operating officer at The Institute of Export and International Trade, told Peterborough Telegraph.

"Times are really tough because of the rising cost of living and we wanted to help to give the children and their families a Christmas they deserve.

"I’m overwhelmed by the number of presents donated by our staff, and incredibly proud of them – not only for their generous donations, but for the time they have committed to wrapping the presents during their lunches all of this week.”

Back in October the company heard Little Miracles was in a “crisis situation” and wanted to do all they could to help out.

Rawles has three children, all of which have additional needs.

"Little Miracles has been brilliant in supporting my children and us as a family,” she said.

"The support they offer families is incredible, and it’s brilliant to be able to give something back.”

Little Miracles charity was founded in 2010 and supports over 15,000 people across 14 centres.
