MTV EMAS honours disabled ambassador

This year's MTV EMAs will honour an Ukrainian changenaker supporting young people with disabilities in her home country amidst the conflict with Russia.
Lina Deshvar is one of honorees of the MTV EMA Generation Award 2022, selected in partnership with Choose Love, the Leading Humanitarian and Advocacy Group for Refugees.
Deshvar was born in the Luhansk region and spent her school years in the Kherson region.
At 19, she decided to volunteer in orphanages and help the children who lived there, because she herself had spent her entire life in similar institutions.
She currently works with a nonprofit organisation, Seeing with the Heart, that believes “childhood has no disability."
The organisation develops projects for socialising children, teens and young people with complex developmental disorders. Over eight years, the organisation supported over 2,500 families raising children, teens and young people with disabilities.
Since the beginning of the full scale invasion of Ukraine, Lina has been visiting military hospitals and delivering humanitarian aid to families with children navigating developmental or physical disabilities and those in difficult life circumstances.
She also plays a role in evacuating these families and children from Ukraine.
Other recipients of the prestigious awards are Anna Kutova, who works with the Light of Hope charity offering shelters for displaced people, LGBTQI+ people, women suffering from addiction and people living with HIV and Anfisa Yakovina, a psychologist at the Polish Migration Forum Foundation supporting the rights of migrants in Poland.
The MTV EMAs are live from Düsseldorf on MTV this Sunday, 14 November at 9pm.
