An infection of the tissues which layer the brain and spinal cord caused by a form of bacteria known as Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

The bacteria can spread to the brain and the spine from other parts of the body.

Those with the illness stand a greater chance of developing HIV and AIDS as well as Pulmonary tuberculosis – a bacterial infection which affects the lung.

Symptoms of Tubercular meningitis include fevers, tiredness, vomiting, headaches, sensitivity to light and a change of mental status.
