An A to Z glossary of disabilities

A common illness, usually triggered by a viral infection which usually inflames the sinuses.

Sinuses produce mucus which are drained into the nose from small channels, when these are blocked the sinus linings become swollen.

Symptoms include a blocked nose, high temperature, pain around the cheeks, toothache, green or yellow discharge from the nose and bad breath. Most of these symptoms are common when you’re suffering from a cold, but if they persist they could be signs of sinusitis.
