Septicaemia or ‘Sepsis’ is a potential life-threatening illness which pushes the body’s immune system into overdrive which can trigger swelling, blood clotting and inflammation. This can decrease the blood pressure meaning the brain, kidneys and heart could shut down. A Hundred thousand people in the UK are treated with the condition and 37,000 will die from the illness.
