An umbrella term for a range of bone abnormalities which affect the face and in some cases the vertebrae.

Common problems include missing parts to the ears, the mouth opening larger at one side, missing parts of the eyes, breathing difficulties, feeding problems, problems with the kidneys, cleft lip and palate and skin tags.

The condition was identified in 1952 by Dr. Maurice Goldenhar who wrote a number of articles about facial problems.
