Also known as GSD or von Grierke disease the condition is a build-up of complex sugar called glycogen in specific organs including the liver, kidneys and small intestines.

Symptoms such as sleeping through the night and lack at appetite usually show signs at 3-4 months.

Throughout childhood patients develop thin arms and a short stature. Their liver and kidneys may become enlarged.

There are about eleven known types of GSD.
