A serious condition where body tissue dies due to a lack of supply from the blood which can affect any part of the body leading to injury, infection or a long-term condition.

Symptoms include redness and swelling, loss of sensation or severe pain, and sores or blisters that bleed or produce a foul-smelling pus.

People with long-term conditions are more at risk of developing gangrene.
