DFS lose family’s sofa Christmas delivery

DFS lose family’s sofa Christmas delivery

We are pretty sure Samanatha Cartlow won’t be heading to DFS in the January sales after the furniture store has potentially ruined their Christmas.

The 34-year-old from Greasby, on the Wirral, will be squatting on their floor over the festive season with her disabled parents, Sharon and Terrence Connor (both 57) after a sofa and chair she ordered online on October 17, priced £1,587 in time for Christmas has been ‘lost’.

Her mum and dad will now struggle to be comfortable over the festive season without anywhere to sit.

Carlow told The Echo: "They have a variety of health issues so I ordered something that would be more comfortable and easier to keep clean.

"I know these things take time. I kept checking online and on December 1 it said the sofa and chair had arrived at the depot, so I booked a delivery for [Monday] December 5."

Her parents spent £150 so their daughter’s old furniture could be removed before the delivery, to make matters worse they paid extra because it was a Sunday.

But around 6pm on December 4, after the old furniture had been removed, DFS phoned Carlow telling her they had “lost” her new sofa and chair.

She said: "It's totally unacceptable. DFS keep telling me they'll get someone to call me back, or they're still trying to find them."

Her dad managed to borrow a chair from his brother because he is unable to sit on the floor due to his health, but Sharon will have to squat on the floor or on the side of the bed.

Carlow, who now wants compensation, said: "There's just no way they can manage on their own, we just want the sofa delivered before Christmas otherwise they'll be eating their dinner sitting on the floor.

"My mum has been in tears. She is very house proud. How they can lose something like that is beyond me. I'm flabbergasted."

A DFS spokesperson said: "We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused for the delay to their furniture order. Unfortunately there has been a system failure at our local distribution centre which has impacted our ability to deliver their order within the estimated timeframe given to the customer when they purchased the product. We have a team of professionals working hard to rectify the problem and we expect to be able to deliver the furniture within the next 24 hours."

There’s probably a DFS sale on right now!
