Rose Ayling-Ellis has announced she is returning to the stage after landing a part in one of Shakespeare’s most well-known plays.
The former Eastenders actress and Strictly Come Dancing champion, who lives with total hearing loss, has bagged a role in the West End production of As You Like It.
Announcing the news on Instagram Ayling-Ellis uploaded a poster for the show with the caption: "So excited to finally share this news!
"I am thrilled to be going back to theatre with this talented group of people.
"Scary thought to be performing Shakespeare for the very first time playing Celia. I’m feeling privileged to be able to do this in this incredible new space. Can’t wait to get creative @sohoplace."
She will be joined in the forthcoming production by Leah Harvey, Alfred Enoch and Martha Plimpton.
After going public with the amazing news Ayling-Ellis received messages of support from her fans, colleagues, family and friends including former dancing partner Giovanni Pernice who called Rose a “Legend”.
The dance couple won Strictly Come Dancing in 2021 when they performed a moving silent routine which gripped the nation.
Soho Place’s production of As You Like It runs from 6 December 2022 - 28 January 2023.
