Paralympian Chloe Kim has announced she will be taking time out to concentrate on her mental health.

Her break will see the 22-year-old missing the 2022/23 season before she returns to the slopes at Milano Cortina 2026 competing for a third gold medal.

Kim won her first Olympic snowboarding gold at Pyeongchang in 2018 at the age of 17 becoming the youngest woman to win the medal.

In 2022 she won her second gold in Beijing, but now wants to step back from the sport and take a break to recharge her batteries.

"I just want to enjoy this moment, take it all in and then get back to it when I'm feeling ready," Kim said.

"I just want to kind of reset," the American added. "I don't want to get right back into it after such a fun, but draining year.

"But, as of now, the plan is most definitely to go after a third medal."

Chloe Kim took a season off after winning her first Winter Olympics to study anthropology at Princeton University.
