Allow us to share with you a true story. Some years ago we found ourselves at The Comedy Store in Piccadilly Circus. Having an improvise theme on a Sunday night the audience were requested to suggest topics for the Comedy Store players. Controversial ideas ranging from 'Famine' to 'War' were suggested from the crowd. Because of our speech limitations this very journalist asks our assistant to shout out our contribution which was 'Disability'. There was a small silence from the floor and the comedian nearly died up on stage. During the interview our assistance was threatened in the toilets by an angry able bodied member of the audience appalled that such a topic was suggested. Despite some jokes having racial and homosexual content in the first half of the show. Being disabled I found this as a slight act of discrimination. Jokes surrounding disability has always been a Taboo topic. Why can't disability and humour go hand in hand? Back in 2000 ABLE2UK invaded the Internet and we haven't looked back over our shoulder since to see less fortunate boring disabled related sites fall at the first hurdle. Unlike other sites predominately aimed at disabled readers we don't wine on about healthcare and aids. If you need special devices to write, wrestle with difficult objects or anything else beginning with 'W' there's plenty of sites you can surf. Its people who can't and won’t accept the vast limitations most disabled people have who need advice. ABLE2 focuses on entertainment, live music events, Summer Festivals, film premiers and whatever we can report back from. We have a great reportage with PR Companies, Record Labels and music management in the business who are extremely supportive, you know who you are guys and without you lot this organisation wouldn't exist. So please accept a great big cuddle from us. We are also reviewing 'stuff'. OK, not the best use of word from the Oxford English Dictionary, but we really are reviewing anything we can from live gigs to console games, restaurants to hotel beds. The variety is endless. Then there's the A - Z of Disabilities an encyclopaedia for everyone who can't walk in a straight line, dribble and can't finish a sentence quicker than As you can also probably tell by now the whole site is sprinkled with our cutting edged humour. So wipe away that link to the boring disabled Websites and stay with us. If you dare.
