We think it was with Sarah Green on Going Live! when it first happened for us. When you hear unscheduled swearing on live TV it is fun, you have to admit. From the time when Five Star were asked why they were so f*cking crap to the time when Shaun Ryder appeared on TFI Friday they were all memorable moments. Years on and even though a good outburst of the F word is still entertaining the shock element has worn off a little. Last week another controversial incident occurred with the golfing legend, Tiger Woods, but it wasn't an explicit which made a frenzy, it was something even better.. Woods is being interviewed at a standard press conference after the Forth round from the US masters golf tournament.. ""I putted atrociously. It was frustrating. I was so in control from tee to green, the best I've played for years ... But as soon as I got on the green I was a spaz." Despite the LA times asking him to repeat his statement, allowing him to replace the 'offending' word to retard, joking! ( he used 'wrekc' instead) there was a backlash from the media focusing on how appalling it all was. Rachel Hurst is one of those annoying Veteran rights campaigners who probably secretary relishes in moments like these. She gave her opinion, "I think it's horrible. It's another example of someone not recognising their own disablism. But I recognise that the inherent disablism around it isn't understood by most people just as we used to talk about little black sambas." It's a pity that people like Hurst needs to open her mouth on a slight mishap such as this. It goes without saying that Woods had no motive to offend people with disabilities and just because his interview didn't tee off as well as it could even more backlash was to be 'pitched' at him. As the news reached the UK it was Assistant Director of Communications at The Disability Rights Commission, Agnes Fletcher who moaned on Radio 5's Nicky Campbell how disgusted he was, "Tiger Woods is a role model for young people around the world and has smashed through prejudice to achieve on the international stage. He will no doubt regret that his words may compound the prejudice that so many of his disabled fans face." Of course, we here
at ABLE2UK wouldn't dream of insulting anybody from any kind of race,
sex or disability background and karma taught Woods a lesson. Although
the golfer did beat Vijay Singh in the league, who is in fact, a nigger! | |||||
