HELP THE HOLME-LESS THIS XMAS ...Go And catch the new Sherlock Holmes movie Published: 15th December 2009 Venue: 1 Mayfair // Time: 10.30pm // Occasion: After Party for Sherlock Holmes Premiere. Why do we find ourselves outside a converted church in West London on a cold December evening? And why are there cameras snapping every time we hear a pair of footsteps? More to the point why is there a horse and carriage outside the building? Elementary our dear ABLE2 readers, it's the after show party for Guy Richie's new Sherlock Holmes movie. Guy Ritchie has had his own fair share of crime over the past few years. His ex-wife Madonna murdered his faith in relationships and he has been a suspect himself by making the criminal movie, 'Swept Away’. Tonight the site belonging to St. Marks Church takes up back to the nineteenth century. Inside nooses are hung from the balconies below the Irish band which play until the midnight hour. Barrels rest our champagne and bottles of beer and the pretty maids bring us such feasts as mini stew and mash, See Bass, mushrooms on tasty bread, and portions of tasty fish. Dessert dishes come in the form of mini chocolate delights and festive mince pies. The banquet table tempts us with meat platters served in scrumptious baps. We managed to grab a few words with the director himself as Guy is ignoring the VIP area where other stars of the movie, Robert Downey Junior and Jude Law are no doubt sharing confessions within these religious four walls. So what has Ritchie been up to we ask? 'I've been trying to make a movie', he tells us - But we move on towards other guests before he finishes his sentence '...which doesn't suck!' - Probably! Our next guest we meet up with is Screen play writer Michael Robert Johnson. So what did he find the most difficult when working on the production? 'Well I of course based the film on Arthur Doyle's original story, and then tweaked it quite a bit. I found it difficult working with so many people and keeping up enthusiasm. I did listen to Guy a lot though, especially because this is the first movie which I have worked on.' So the question is. Will Sherlock Holmes be a success? The evidence comes to your big screens this Boxing Day. |
