RUDEBOY

He's pissed off quite a few people over the past years. Gary Barlow, Ex- Take That manager, Nigel Martin Smith, thousands of fans who bought a ticket for his disappointing tour this Summer. Now Robbie Williams has carelessly added a lyric in his current album which has upset a few disabled listeners.

Raymond Johnson works for People First and has expressed his disgrace concerning the line, "Dance like you just won at the Special Olympics." Which appears in Robbies first release, Rudebox from his latest album which shares the same name. Johnson has remarked (and this is brilliant, see if you can spot the offensive word in this quote..)

"It's disgraceful. This is just a modern way of saying dance like a spastic. Robbie Williams is supposed to be a role model but he has really let himself down and is patronizing disabled people."

So, there you go. Robbie Williams has apparently upset 'Spastics'. Wouldn't it be funny if somebody phoned Raymond from a disabled awareness website and complain about his chosen term of word he used to describe people with cerebral palsy.

We couldn't resist it,

ABLE2: Hi is this Raymond?

People First: No, whose calling

(We explain that we are the worlds leading UK Disabled Company)

A2: Is this Raymond?

Raymond: yeah speaking

A2: We calling from a disabled awareness company and noticed your comment regarding Robbie Williams single, 'Rudebox'

Ray: Oh yeah, that's right we were going to do a protest outside HMV about it.

A2: A Protest?

Ray: Yeah, but not many people were interested

A2: You said Robbie's outburst is a modern way of saying dance like a spastic. Surely you could had chosen a less offensive word than Spastic?

Ray: I didn't actually say it like that, hang on ill get one of my supporters and put you o n loud speaker

Short silence whilst we think we have done the wrong thing and consider hanging up!

Ray (on loudspeaker): OK, regarding Robbies lyrics about dancing in the special Olympics this was cut from the download version.

A2: Yes, but we want to know why you used the offending word 'Spastic' in your outburst.

(We then ask Ray to navigate to a website where his quote is printed and read it out to him.)

A2: So did you say this?

Ray's colleague then tells him exactly what to reply with in the background until the rest of the interview and we start to feel a bit guilty that we made the call in the first place as both of them are coming across uncomfortable.

Ray: We were just making the point clear.

A2: So why did you have to use the term 'Spastic' in your reply?

Ray: It was what Robbie said, but in a nicer, modern way.

A2: But your outburst could be seen as more offending as to what Robbie said in his song. Why couldn't you be more PC yourself?

Ray's colleague advises him to email us next week with his reply which we will print should we ever receive it! To be honest we weren't offended in the slightest and apoligise to any distress we may have caused Raymond, his colleges and even Robbie himself!
