RIGHT TO REPLY?

Last week we ran a story regarding People First's Raymond Johnson's comment concerning a lyric in a Robbie William's song where the cheeky pop star sang, 'Dance As You've Won At The Special Olympics'. Ray responded by saying, 'It's disgraceful. This is just a modern way of saying dance like a spastic.'

So, because we had nothing better to do, we pretended to be offensive with Ray's use of the word, 'Spastic' and gave him a call. Mr. Johnson promised us a reply and, man of his word, he got back to us. Here's his reply..

Robbie Williams used the line "Dance like you just won the special Olympics" as part of the chorus
He used the term as school children used to call others "dance like a spastic"
Nowadays in School playgrounds children use the word "special" as a nasty term.
Like in the olden days they would call others spastics.
The point I am making is I know it is an offensive world and it wasn't me saying that, it was showing what Robbie had done.

We disagree with his song and were telling others what we mean.

I hope this clears up the misunderstanding

Thanks a lot!
Ray

Thanks Ray. Sorry we didn't print this earlier, but we had problems with our PC and couldn't fix it ourselves because we are a bunch of Spazzys!
