With collection buckets being rattled under your noses and Wogan begging for you hard earned cash all night we thought we would turn the tables and let you know how to apply for a Children In Need grant.
If your organisation benefits those 18 years old or under you may be able to claim a donation from Pudsey; although there’s a few reasons why your request may be turned down. The charity does not give funding to projects outside the UK, religious organisations, those involved with NHS or government bodies, medical research, and any organisation which is related to pregnancy.
Further reasons for refusal of grants include those referring to endowments or general appeals, deficit or repayment of loans, individuals, distribution to other organisations and projects due to start 12 months after the grant is given to you.
If you qualify for a grant the next step is to decide which kind you wish to request, a small grant or a main grant. Small grants can be anything up to the sum of £10,000; for those needing more support its worth bearing in mind Children In Need rarely hands out more than £100,000 to a request for a main grant.
You will have four opportunities applying for a grant each year, the closing dates for the grants are fall on 15 th of January, April, July and October – you are advised to make your request well before the desired closing date.
So, think you are eligible for a grant?
If you believe you are there’s nothing stopping you filling in an application form and keeping your fingers crossed. The forms along with more detailed information can be found on the Children in Need website where you can also make a donation to the good cause as well.
BBC Children in Need is on tonight (18 November) on BBC1 from 7.30pm
