There’s a programme on Channel 4 this evening which cannot go under our radar unnoticed for two very good reasons. Brave New World focuses on impending scientific break-troughs for physical disabilities and is introduced by Professor Stephen Hawking, who wrote our very own introduction a few years ago.

The five-part series also includes scientific inventions which aims to improve the lives for those with physical impairments, in tonight’s show we are given the insight to an exoskeleton which enables paralysed people to walk and a car which doesn’t need a driver.

Also in tonight’s show for those of you who fancy being Professor Xavier from the X-Men keep your eyes peeled for a futuristic wheelchair which is controlled solely by the power of the mind.

Future episodes include the astonishing prospect of robots replacing surgeons on the operating theatre and how the brain may be able to fix physical disorders.

Along with other scientific geniuses such as Richard Dawkins and Sir David Attenborough the series promises to be an entertaining and extremely interesting glimpse of the future and the next generation those with physical impairments.

Just don’t bother dropping us an email asking how these inventions work, as to be perfectly honest, we haven’t a clue!

Brave New World with Stephen Hawking is on Channel 4 tonight, 17 October at 8pm
