“Looks as if the government’s been found out lying and misleading the people on the subject of disability allowances.” Not our words, but the ones from Stephen Fry who tweeted in response to a new report launched by online blogger Sue Marsh and thousands of disabled people.

The ‘Responsible Reform’, which is also being dubbed as the ‘Spartacus Report’ is another attempt for the Disability Living Allowance amended. Last year despite peaceful protests and campaigns the government refused to listen to those asking for a reform to the DLA.

In October 2011 MP’s compiled the Impact Assessment for changes to the DLA...However very little has been changed, the reports are almost identical!

As MPs return from their Christmas holidays the Spartacus Report has brought to light a few important points which the government have tried to hide.

First of all the report shows that the Government has broken its own law over the DLA reform. We have also been given misleading information, according to MPs disability claims have risen 30% within the past 8 years, and the Spartacus Report believes this statistic shows a distorted result.

The Government’s new allowance, PIP (Personal Independence Payments) has been criticised by thousands of people, including disability campaigners and those with disabilities. However, despite the plans being rejected and legislation being passed plans for the PIP are already going ahead.

There’s an overwhelming response to the new allowance scheme, 98% object to the fact a person will now have to wait 6 months to qualify for the PIP (the current qualifying period is 3 months) and 99% object to the fact that those already having DLA do not automatically qualify for the new allowance.

Yesterday every MP, across the country was paid a visit by a courier who hand delivered boxes and reports to show the Government how important this change is for people with disabilities.

Despite the efforts made by the campaigners yesterday some have been deeply upset for the lack of coverage the BBC have shown, so today we ask you to email the BBC Chairman Chris Patten urging his broadcasting company to help publicise this vital campaign.

I've sent Chris Patten a very strongly worded email but I am not hopeful of a response given previous failure to respond by the BBC. Shameful!
