During an interview for the Sunday Times Hoddle made the following statement...
“You and I have been physically given two hands and two legs and half-decent brains. Some people have not been born like that for a reason. The karma is working from another lifetime. I have nothing to hide about that. It is not only people with disabilities. What you sow, you have to reap."
Sticking to his religious karma beliefs the coach caused uproar from disability campaigners and the former Labour MP, Lord Morris who, at the time, described his words as "grossly and unbelievably insensitive and hurtful”
To make things worse for the disgraced England coach a news conference which followed was interrupted by a drunken fan, after having one too many Shandies the intruder (later identified as ‘Gary’) screamed abuse at Hoddle whilst the ex-player was talking to the press.
One of the only people to publically support Glenn Hoddle was his faith healer, Eileen Drewery.
So, what does the future hold for John Terry now he has been sacked from Premiership football? Unbelievably if he follows in Hoddle’s misguided footsteps he could still have quite a respectable career...
Glenn Hoddle still has an agent. He is represented by Sport Entertainment Media Group who looks after sporting heroes such as Lennox Lewis CBE, Ian Wright and quite astonishily Matt Le Tissier who supports a local disabled school for disabled children in Southampton.
Hoddle is also still in employment running The Glenn Hoddle Academy in Spain which has established in 2008. The academy aims to support ex-Premier League and Football League Championship scholars back into the game. Wonder if a certain Mr. Terry will be knocking on the door in the not too foreseeable future?
