John Terry isn’t the only person to be banned from the football pitches after making an alleged prejudice remark. Back in 1999 England coach Glenn Hoddle faced a similar charge after making a shocking jibe towards people with disabilities.

It’s around this time of year when most people set off on their skiing holidays. ABLE2UK has never been one to patronise or belittle those with disabilities, but let’s be honest...when it comes to skiing down slopes a percentage of disabled people may have a slight bit of difficulty . Although that doesn’t mean to say you still can’t participate...

The date is drawing ever closer, the sporting event of the century, we are of course referring to the Olympic Games and if you haven’t been sleeping under a bunker for the past few months you will be well aware that the country has been looking for people to carry the Olympic Flame.

The wonderful thing about Sledge Hockey is that the sport can not only be played by disabled and able-bodied people, but also the fact there is little need for any adaptations to be made to cater for ones needs, the only alteration in the game refers to how a player can Tee-charge, they can use any part at the front of their sledge. With players being strapped into a sledge everybody has an equal chance of becoming a sporting champion or, dare we say it, causing themselves a painful injury.

Forgive for not bothering to calculate how many days it is until the start of the Paralympics, but the truth is we are so excited about this news we just want to tell you about it as soon as possible.

September 8 2011. Tomorrow morning tickets for next year’s Paralympics will go on sale across the world. To mark the occasion Trafalgar Square is hosting International Paralympic Day which gives the public an insight to the 20 sporting events which are planned for the games themselves.
