For thousands of people across the country this weekend their standard clubbing nights down the local clubs will be moved to an air field in Stratford Upon Avon.

Global Gathering kicks off later today (Friday 29th July) with an elite line-up of DJ’s including Chase & Status, Epic Prydz, Sasha and Andy C. There will also be live performances from artists such as Tinie Tempah, Labrinth and Pendulum.

You would think with the weekend predominantly made up of DJ sets opposed to live acts those with hearing impediments would be overlooked. Fortunately this is not the case; deaf visitors can collect a hearing loop upon arrival at the box office. There is also an area for assistance dogs; they will be the ones who aren’t sniffing your crouch when you are trying to conceal your ‘weekend substances’ from the local police force. Not that we would ever condemn such a thing of course as drugs are illegal at the festival.

If you fancy a good view ask for a Disabled Access Wristband, also available at the box office, which will entitle you and your PA on the main stage viewing platform. Which, we are led to believe will be on site, however the past couple years we have been unable to find the viewing platform even with the assistance of the helpful event security team. Check our Twitter account later today to see if we can find it this year, apparently the platform can be found next to the Front of House position next to the Main Stage.

If you suffer from epilepsy be prepared for strobe and laser lights. These could cause a slight problem, especially at a dance festival, because if they trigger off a seizure you could be mistaken as just a crap dancer or worse still somebody who has mistaken a Neurfon tablet as something a little stronger!

There will be at least one disabled loo at each arena and scattered around the site itself. The surface is flat tarmac making Global Gathering one of the most assessable festivals of the summer for wheelchair users.

Disabled parking will be available for Blue Badge holders and Medical Teams will be available on site if you require their services.

The only thing missing from Global Gathering capturing the atmosphere of a typical night out on the town is a cloak room and miserable bouncers trying to ruin your evening with their pathetic door policy and you can’t really argue with that...There’s even the opportunity to buy a messy kebab from a food stall on the way back to your tents!
