Steve Jobs, co-founder of Apple and not short of a penny or two, revealed the iPad yesterday at the Yerba Buena Center in San Francisco. Taking one step further from the ever popular iPhone; Apple's new creation allows users to read books and magazines, play HD videos and download music from iTunes. It also manages to run applications which you would find on an iPhone itself.
Boasting a 9.7 inch screen, yet only a 10 hour battery life the iPad does have its pros and cons. Although weighing in at just 1.5 pounds and a partly 0.5 inches thin this sexy little gadget is show stylish if it had legs we would expect it to walk down the cat walk at next months London Fashion Week!
Terry McGraw is head of the publishing company, McGraw-Hill. He had this to say about Apples latest money-spinner...
"The tablet is going to be based on the iPhone operating system, and so it will be transferable. We have a consortium of ebooks – we have 95 per cent of all our materials that are in ebook format on that one – so with the tabloid you're going to open up the higher education market, the professional market. The tabloid, the tablet is going to be just really terrific."
So when can you start mobbing people in the high street for an IPad? Well, the gizmo is launched here in the UK at the end of March and if you don't fancy risking a criminal record you can always go and pay for one providing that you have £310 to spare!
