Apparently averages of three guide dogs a month are being savaged in the UK alone. Which is pretty disturbing news, especially if there's a blind person on the other end of their lead!
The government have turned their backs on the Dangerous Dogs act which was enforced to control the breeding of dangerous pooches. Thanks to animal welfare groups the government are being pressured into paying more attention to protect the public and other canines from serious 'barking mad' attacks.
The animal campaigners are pushing for all dogs to be micro chipped so the owners can be easily traced and scrutinised should their pet cause any criminal offences.
Blind Blunkett said: “At its root it is about the owners, their irresponsibility, sheer thoughtlessness and lack of care. Highlighting this particular aspect of dangerous dogs, and danger to other dogs, as well as people, is extremely helpful in focusing on what might work and how to strengthen the existing laws in the interests of all of us.”
Blunkett, who owns a guide dog called Sadie, was campaigning about this yesterday when, and try not to laugh when you read the end of this sentence, he was charged into by a cow!
Oi, stop laughing you insensitive swines', the poor bugger was trying to do some good when a cow charged into him. He was having a stroll in the Peak District when a cow charged into Sadie. Blunkett tried to help his beloved black Labrador-cross but he fell over. The cow then trampled on Blunkett, before toppling over as well!
Stop bloody laughing!! It's NOT funny.
Blind Blunkett suffered with a broken rib and a few bruises, although it couldn't have been that bad because he managed to plans to make his way to a Labour meeting later on today.
Blind Blunkett is now campaigning dangerous dogs should be attacking cows instead.
