The cure for migraines could be on its way.

Published: 5th March 2010

At the moment Migraine suffers have to pop more pills than Amy Winehouse snorts white powder, and trust us - that's a hell of a lot of sniffs.

An alternative could be available, although seeing a seeing as the gadget is still being tested out and doesn't even have a name yet the date when this little gizmo sees the light of day is unspecified.

The thingamajig sends a single-pulse transcranial magnetic stimulation (sTMS), which will interfere with the electrical events in the brain which bring on the auras which lead to migraines.

Auras can come in the form of lights and zigzag lines as well as numbness, tingling and the difficulty to speak. Two hundred migraines sufferers used the gadget at a controlled experiment over in the States, half of which were given the placebo treatment.

The conclusion was that the real magnetic pulse from the device was a hell of lot more effective than placebo treatment.

We have to admit that we copied a few words from another website for this article as we didn't really have a clue what it means. In a matter of fact - It gave us a headache. Geddit? - Oh please your bloody selves!
