Just
over a year ago The Queen Of Pop was standing besides an African woman
in front of 250,000 people in Hyde Park. This opportunity to show that
she wasn't the rumored stuck-up bitch she had been portrayed as in the
media gave Madonna the chance to shine at the Live8 concert. Had the
feisty singer turned over a new leaf and stepped in the shoes of Madonna
Teresa? Course she bloody hadn't. Just hours before this very reporter
was reluctantly met by Madonna after hovering outside her double-sized
dressing room backstage.
12 months later the generous, caring mother of two charged £160
for a single ticket for her Confessions Tour. Surely she wasn't hard
up? Was she just being greedy? Or did she have another mouth to feed
in the family?
The answer to both questions was 'Yes'. After hanging up her stage costumes
from 'Confessions' Madge traveled to Comic Relief land and adopted a
kid. Accompanied by a few photographers whose pictures have given her
another batch of good, heart-warmed publicity. Or so she thought.
Jackson tried to save the kids - by keeping them safe under his duvet.
Geldof asked us to give 'our fooking money' and brought out a solo album
and Bono, well we don't really understand what the hell he's on about
sometimes but it's something about the Government canceling debt for
third world countries. U2 have recently moved their bank accounts to
Holland so they can avoid paying tax.
But has Madonna's publicity stunt of kindest taken things just a bit
too far? According to the Human Rights Group adoptive parents of a Malawi
child should have lived in the country for at least 18 months.
The child in question, David is currently living with Madonna and husband,
Guy Richie in London although an added twist to the story was bought
to light last week.
David's father, Yohane Banda (Makes you wonder, with a name like that
how the name 'Dave' came about - doesn't it?) is apparently illiterate
and therefore misinterpreted the fact that after giving his son up for
adoption he would no longer be classed as his father,
"I was never told that adoption means that David will no longer
be my son, If I was told this, I would not have allowed the adoption.
I want more clarification on the adoption. I would prefer that David
goes back to the orphanage where I can see him any time I want, rather
than send him away for good.", Yohane told a news reporter and
is now consideration to take David back to Malawi to an orphanage.
Does Madonna, mother of two really have time to look after a third child?
Granted, she has raised her children well, but a boarding school education
has helped relieve the pressure of parenthood. Daddy maybe out of good
film scripts but Mummy will continue her conquest to dominate the world
with her albums and forthcoming live performances.
Madonna flew to the states to be interviewed by Oprah Winfrey so she
could stand up against the criticism David's adoption has caused. The
interview incidentally timed in quite nicely with the release date of
her new children's book!
Has Madge lost the plot this time? When Guy Richie was quizzed about
the situation he was reported to say, 'That's the last time I give my
wife my credit card & tell her to treat herself to a little black
number!"
