Microsoft reveal the Kinect Xbox.

Published: 15th June 2010

For the nerds reading this you may be quite familiar with the term Project Natal, the working title Microsoft christened their forthcoming latest games console.

Yesterday the device, now titled 'Kinect' was finally revealed to the press ahead of the E3 games expo which kicks off in LA today. (15th June.)

The console solely relies on movement, so let’s face it - if you are severely epileptic the chances of completing a game in one session are fairly remote. The Kinect can also detect facial movements and voice recognition.

Games which have already been divides include a Star Wars shoot-em-up where the players hand movements compensate for a light sabre and a Yoga simulator.

For those who enjoy a good boogie the forthcoming Dance Central from MTV games will be a firm favourite which includes tracks from well established artists such as No Doubt.

There's even an on-line pet in development for those who enjoyed starving their Tamagotchi's virtual creatures to death a few years ago.

Although a price tag hasn't been announced budding gamers can already pre-order a Kinect from Game.

Even though the Kinect sounds unique the console could face stiff competition when it's launched towards the end of this year as Sony intends to launch its Playstation Move and Nintendo will be revealing its upgraded WiiMotion Plus.
