BERLIN SPECIAL

THE NIGHT ZIS YOUNG!

ABLE2 attends The MTV EMA After show party .

Published: 12th November 2009

The chances are the word 'Postbahnhof' means very little to our English readers. To be frank with you we have just copied the word off our yellow wristband which is positioned aside our laptop at this very moment. The same very wristband which gained us ourselves access to one of the considerably large and extremely lavish after show parties which took place directly after the MTV EMA's last week in Berlin.

Because of the sheer scale of the EMA's the after show party was split in two and staying close to Berlins heritage albeit a change in two compass bearings the parties took were nicknamed the North and the South. The first question we know you are going to ask is which party did we attend. Because of the free champagne, the complimentary vodka and the beer on offer for nowt Euros we will call this the South party. Well, we have a fifty percent chance of that being correct!

So, what is Postbahnhof? It is in fact a disused German terminus in East Berlin which was transformed into a through station in the late nineteenth century.

Tonight it was transformed once again, only this time for a much more enjoyable purpose and there was no second class entertainment. Once the celebrities battled through the press posing in front of the promo board (the photos you are used to seeing through various means of media activities at events such as these) on the ground level the stairs leading up to the party floor awaited them.

The party was pretty damn big. Imagine Waterloo station cleared out with catering and drink stalls on both sides and that will give you a rough idea on what this party hall resembled.

At the very far end a stage barricaded the VIP area where The Foo Fighters watched Juliette Lewis perform dressed to the nines resembling a female version of Ziggy Stardust. Later in the evening various European acts would play at smaller stages situated around the venue.

Universal music and the MTV presidents held separate celebrations across the city.
