C'mon, hands up who sent a picture into Tony Hart when they were younger in the hope that their creative masterpiece would be shown in the 'gallery'? Only to be disappointed every week when their hard work wasn't shown and a crap matchstick man in front of cauliflower trees drawn by a 4 year old kid was shown instead. Well this month you have the chance to dust those cobwebs from that felt-tip case and start drawing because February 27th is the first ever National Doodle Day.

The charity event hopes to raise £1,000,000 for people who have epilepsy and neurofibromatosis. Following on from other fundraisers such as Comic Relief a gimmick can be purchased from a shop. Replacing a 'Red Nose' people can buy a Doodle Card from Llyodspharmacy branches across the UK this month (February) and start 'doodling'.

Then after the day itself you will have two weeks to send your masterpiece in and be in for a chance of winning some cool prizes including a framed official Doodle Day poster signed by the charity's patron, Terry Wogan. If your entry is really good you could see it being shown of at an exhibition alongside celebrities attempts. Famous squibblers include Sir Elton John, Claudia Schiffer, The Duchess of York and oddly Basil Brush??

So what the hell is this epilisey stuff? For those of you who didn't use to watch Neighbors a few years back (Todd Carty's girlfriend had epilisey - sad Neighbours fan) it's the most common neurological condition except from a migraine. In a matter of fact 440,000 people in the UK are epileptic which means they have irregular fits, or to be PC 'seizures.

Seizures happen because our brain is so bloody complicated things sometimes screw up. In the case of an epileptic the messages which travel between nerve cells become scrambled which makes the neurons fire off quicker then usual which causes a seizure. When this happens the person could black out or experience irregular spasms until the brain returns to normal which could last from a few seconds to a few minutes.

So if you fancy yourself as a budding Damien Hirst then start drawing and buy a doodle card for £1 today. ABLE2UK will show some of the best artwork next month.
