Reading & Leeds is THE ‘Rock’ event of the year; the young crowd mixed with a never ending stream of alcohol should prepare you for the messiest festival of the summer and therefore one of the most enjoyable. With this kind of frenzied environment it’s satisfying to know those with various forms of disabilities are well catered for.
The Reading site is quite flat, although some areas can be a little uneven. In Leeds despite the arena being fairly flat some of the area backstage is pretty steep and the ground itself is uneven.
Guests at Reading can check-in in the Rivermead car park before they drive into the disabled campsite which is shared with the guest camping area at both sites. Visitors at Leeds can check in at the Yellow Gate on Thorner Road, there’s a shuttle bus nearby should you need to use its services.
In Reading you will be quite near a police station, phones and a cash machine and have easy access into the main arena thanks to the Milk Gate which is there especially for those wearing a Disabled Access wristband.
At both sites disabled visitors are allowed to bring up to three guests and both campsites have accessible loos and overlooked by the friendly staff from Attitude is Everything.
You will find disabled viewing platforms at each stage on both sites where each disabled guest can take a +1 so they can both watch the likes of Pulp, Muse, My Chemical Romance who are among this year’s impressive line up. All platforms will have a disabled loo.
Talking of toilets!...Guests at Reading can also take advantage of the disabled toilets located in the Rivermead Centre free of charge providing they show their Disabled Access wristbands.
ABLE2UK will be on site at Reading all weekend and reviewing a headline act and the disabled facilities, both of which will be published online next week.
