The government now wish to pull the plug on free disabled parking kicking off in Hampshire so they can balance the budget.
Councillor Margaret 'Heartless bitch 'Snaith-Tempia, who incidentally is paid £29,000 a year, agreed the decision last Thursday (9th September). Maggie heard that the county’s library service is over spending by £200,000 and the Basingstoke Milestone Museum is £50,000 in debt.
So, her solution? Take a pay cut? Nah, scrounge some cash off disabled people! So, from February 2011 the council will charge blue badge holders at country parks.
Blue Badge holders may be entitled to a discount as the sites currently charged a fixed all-day fare.
The scheme has caused outrage with various groups including Diane Andrews, of Eastleigh Southern Parishes forum for the elderly.
She said: “The people who have blue badges tend not be people who are well off and with parking charges increasing everywhere they will suffer even more.”
The car parks which will be effected/ ideal spots to vandalise parking meters are Manor Farm Country Park in Bursledon, Royal Victoria Country Park at Netley, Lepe Country Park in the New Forest and Queen Elizabeth Country Park near Waterlooville.
